To be honest, seeing tonight’s market action was my first reaction—rubbing my eyes.

BTC 63,044 is basically going nowhere over the past 24 hours; in 7 days it’s down 3%. ETH 1,881 is also just drifting sideways, making it hard to stay awake. The Fear and Greed Index is perfectly stuck at 50—neutral. At this point, if you say it’s going to drop, it doesn’t; if you say it’s going to rise, it doesn’t either. The market feels like it’s waiting for a signal, but nobody knows what that signal will look like.

But what really makes me interested is the three names on the top-gainers list.

PORTAL is up 31% in a day, with volume of 78M. The slogan is pretty loud—“Let the first billion players enter Web3.” I’ve seen this kind of narrative too many times. Every time it’s called a revolution, and in the end most of it turns into revolutionary martyrs. That said, the gaming sector has been stagnant for a long time, so it’s normal for an occasional burst of emotion to show up. Still, let me remind you: this kind of pump is often news-driven. Once the hype fades, the pullback speed can be just as shocking.

DOLO is up 25.8%, and the funding rate is negative at -0.0038%. That’s kind of interesting. The price is rising, but shorts are still adding to their positions—which means the market is highly divided. Personally, I think this kind of divergence is actually a good thing; at least it suggests it isn’t a one-way speculative crowd driving the move. But I won’t chase it. For an altcoin at this magnitude, volatility is too high, and people with a weak mindset are likely to be unable to hold on.

AIO is up 25.26% with volume of 149M—the largest among these. Funding rate is 0.0455%, in a normal range. With this volume matching that kind of gain, it suggests real money is coming in—not some low-volume pump. But 149M volume in today’s market environment is only moderate. Don’t be fooled by the number.

Now looking at the top decliners: CYS -52%, HOME -16.8%. CYS’s funding rate is -0.0224%, meaning the shorts have gotten overheated. A lot of people might think about catching the bottom, but I’d suggest you calm down. From another angle, a cliff-like selloff behind it is often due to fundamental issues, not something a simple “oversold bounce” can fix. HOME is even more extreme, with a funding rate of -0.3965%—a signal of extreme short crowding. But I don’t see this as an opportunity. It feels more like a warning: the market’s pricing of certain projects is changing fundamentally.

On the trending search list: CHIP, CASHCAT, PENGU, PLUME, MARSCOIN. I skimmed through—most are memes or newly launched projects. I’m a bit attentive to PENGU. The Pudgy Penguins IP had a moment of glory in the NFT era, but now it’s being moved on-chain—can it replicate the old hype? I’m keeping a cautious stance. As for a name like MARSCOIN, just hearing it tells you it’s riding on hype—there’s not much to say.

So what’s my approach?

At this level in the market, I don’t think there’s any need to panic, but I also don’t think it’s time to add aggressively. If it can hold steady around 63,000, then the short-term bottom might be right around here. If it breaks below 62,000, the next support level would likely be the 60,000 round-number zone. For spot holders, the best strategy right now is to hold still—don’t let daily fluctuations mess with your mindset. For those looking to enter, I suggest waiting for a clearer directional signal, such as a breakout with volume on the daily timeframe or a pullback with reduced volume that confirms.

ETH is weaker than BTC, but 1,880 isn’t expensive either. If BTC holds, ETH will catch up eventually—just a matter of time.

As for altcoins, my rule is: I won’t chase the ones that surge too hard on the gainers list, and I won’t catch the ones that fall too violently on the decliners list. I only focus on projects with real businesses and real users. In this market, living longer matters far more than making money fast.

Finally, one last thing: tonight’s market, put simply, is “boredom with an undertow.” Everything looks calm on the surface, but underneath, people are already rebalancing their positions. Don’t let the numbers on the gainers list blind you, and don’t let the panic on the decliners list set your pace.

What do you think about game concept coins like PORTAL? Is there really substance behind them, or is it just pure speculation? Let’s discuss in the comments.
