🔥BNB Chain major upgrade! Pasteur hard fork arrives August 25, throughput soars 88%! #BNB链将激活Pasteur硬分叉
BNB Smart Chain (BSC) has officially announced: the Pasteur hard fork will be activated on the mainnet on August 25 at 10:30 (Beijing time). This upgrade has already been running on the testnet on July 21. Before activation, mainnet nodes must upgrade to client v1.7.7 and remove the outdated configuration EnableBAL.
Three core upgrades:
① BEP-682: Close the cross-chain bridge signature vulnerability: Previously, a validator’s signature could be counted repeatedly, allowing attackers to forge enough votes to bypass verification. The new mechanism directly removes duplicate signatures; only a sufficient number of independent validators jointly confirmed can allow the transaction to pass.
② BEP-695: Guard validator privileges: After a validator replaces its keys, the old keys previously still retained management permissions. After the upgrade, the permissions of the old keys are immediately revoked, and any pending slashing penalties cannot be avoided by changing keys. Meanwhile, it also fixes the vulnerability where blacklisted addresses could bypass voting limits via off-chain signatures.
③ BEP-675: Performance goes explosive: Block builders submit blocks that have already been executed, and validators no longer execute them again. Testnet verification time drops from 125ms to 15ms; TPS jumps from 1237 to 2324—an 88% surge! Block time remains at 450ms, and gas fees remain unchanged.
Impact on BNB:
Short term: Slightly bullish 📈 The security upgrade removes potential risks, the performance doubles and strengthens the network’s competitiveness, and the news will boost market confidence.
Long term: Bullish 🚀 Without increasing costs, capacity approaches doubling. Prepare the “highway” for an ecosystem surge, and the throughput expansion goals in BNB Chain’s 2026 roadmap will be steadily advanced.
