An attacker exploited a flaw in the deposit-detection logic of the bridge that connects the XRP Ledger to the TX network. They managed to mint bridged XRP against transactions in which no real funds were sent, then transferred and swapped it for the real $XRP . 💥
According to the details being circulated, around 200,000 $XRP was withdrawn through 94 batches.
What’s even stranger is that each batch was correctly signed by 17 out of 28 relayers, while the bridge’s own logs indicated that the deposits were real. 👀
🔐 Important: Ripple’s own ledger was not breached. However, @txEcosystem reported that the bridged XRP on its network is no longer fully supported.
This incident is a strong reminder that bridge security doesn’t rely only on signatures, but also on properly verifying that a deposit actually took place.
