Google allows users to turn the displayed watermark on or off on Gemini and Flow, while content created by Nano Banana, Omni, and Lyria still retains the hidden SynthID watermark and C2PA metadata.

The displayed watermark feature is applied to images created by Nano Banana, videos created by Omni, and songs created by Lyria. Exceptions are countries or regions where rules require the watermark to be kept.

Google said support for watermarking on Search will be rolled out later. Even if the watermark can be turned off, SynthID and C2PA metadata are still retained to identify content created by AI.

Google has also open-sourced Credentio, a new C++ library for content authentication information according to the C2PA standard.
