#dusk $APR $ACE $DUSK @Dusk

i keep thinking the weird part of a Dusk trade is not even that the payment can stay shielded through Phoenix.

it’s that the thing i’m paying with and the thing i’m buying can be moving through completely different Dusk machinery at the same time. shielded DUSK on one side, an XSC security sitting through Zedger on the other, and somehow my brain still wants to call that one simple trade.

which... yeah, it really isn’t.

because Phoenix is consuming encrypted notes and proving a shielded DUSK spend, then that value still has to move through the Transfer Contract into DuskDS. meanwhile the Confidential Security Contract is dealing with a regulated security on DuskVM, where Zedger is keeping ownership confidential while the next holder still has to satisfy the XSC rules.

so which side is actually “the transaction” here? the Phoenix payment? the XSC ownership change?

both, apparently. but Phoenix is proving the shielded DUSK can move without exposing the note relationship, while XSC and Zedger are dealing with whether that regulated security can actually move to an authorized holder without turning the ownership public.

“one trade. two different confidential states.”

that’s the part i keep getting stuck on.

Zedger doesn’t suddenly become Phoenix just because both sides are confidential. and Phoenix doesn’t start caring about XSC holder eligibility just because its DUSK is paying for the security.

and somehow both of those different Dusk state changes still have to end up meaning one settled trade to DuskDS.

maybe that’s the thing i was flattening.

the Phoenix spend and the XSC ownership change can belong to the same Dusk trade without ever becoming the same Dusk state.
