148-point wide-range sweep: both long and short are boxed together — gold “single-set” strategy to deal with it all!

This week’s gold saw violent fluctuations and a sweeping range. After pushing up to the 4449 phase high, it faced concentrated sell pressure and quickly pulled back. It dipped to the 4301 support level, gradually stopped the decline, and then entered a consolidation and repair channel. Currently, it is trading around 4375.

The timing of this round’s switches between longs and shorts has been extremely sharp. Whether traders chased longs at higher levels or tried to bottom-fish and sell shorts at lower levels, many have fallen into a trapped-position situation.

For the two most common types of trapped trades, here are the corresponding handling approaches:

Long positions from above 4420 (high-level longs): You can wait for price to rebound into the 4400–4420 resistance zone, then reduce exposure in batches to shrink risk first. For the remaining position, set 4390 as the stop-loss defense and bet on a potential breakout afterward. If the rebound reaches the resistance zone but upward progress is weak and selling pressure is clear, you should cut the loss decisively and exit, or lock in risk via a hedged lock. Never stubbornly hold and allow losses to expand.

Short positions below 4320 (low-level shorts): When price retraces to the 4330–4340 support zone, reduce exposure in batches and exit. For the remaining position, use 4380 as the stop-loss line and continue holding to wait for further downside. If support is confirmed to be effective after the retracement, you may add a small amount to short to drag down the average entry price. Then, once price rebounds to the target area later, close everything together to settle.

The core principle for getting untrapped is always: keep position size under control and put stop-loss first. You absolutely must not go against the trend by adding aggressively and stubbornly holding.

Reducing exposure step by step and exiting according to the rhythm within the current range is the lowest-risk and most stable way to handle it.
