The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is conducting an internal review of “mention markets” on prediction platforms, according to people familiar with the matter. According to Odaily, these markets let traders predict whether specific words will appear in settings such as speeches, company earnings calls, or television programs.

The people said the CFTC notified Kalshi about the review several weeks ago, after which Kalshi removed sports-related mention markets from its platform. It is not clear whether the review is limited to sports contracts or covers all types of mention markets.
