US$ 4.000 million is the amount of money in gold that Venezuela is trying to recover from the underground vaults of the Bank of England. The Bank of England has long refused to release the 31 metric tons of Venezuelan gold. Venezuela plans to focus the resources on rebuilding the country after the double earthquake that affected several states across the nation.
Recently, the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, said the government and lawmakers had agreed to focus on projects aimed at reconstructing homes, improving the capacity of the healthcare system, access to electricity, and removing debris.
He also stressed that, once the assets are recovered, “mechanisms for transparency, traceability, and auditing will be put in place for their efficient use, to ensure the well-being of everyone affected.”
