It was late getting home on the weekend evening, and there were still people chatting in the elevator about the $ETH ETF—it was boring.

When I got home, I turned on the air conditioner and, as I happened to be flipping through messages, I saw this one: SharpLink wants to use $200 million of the $ETH to build Lido’s wstETH.

This doesn’t look like a company simply going after a bit of staking yield.

It’s sending a message to the market: the institutions on the US stock side holding the $ETH aren’t satisfied with just lying there with positions—they’re starting to move onto the chain. They want returns, and they also want to keep room to be active in DeFi.

It’s not the same vibe as the ETF subscription watching from earlier.

An ETF puts the money into a box. Now someone is opening the box a bit, reaching their hand into the chain to look for fresh liquidity.

And at this timing, $BTC is still grinding around 62827. In 24 hours it’s down 1.23%, with the high and low stuck in that 1,000-plus range between 63640 and 62535.

Spot trading volume is 781 million, while the futures have run up to 6.743 billion—8.6x.

People say “stay calm” with their mouths, but their hands are twisting in the futures contracts. The funding rate is only +0.0045%, while positions are still pressing down with 112001 BTC.

I’ve been doing charts for a few years; this flavor is very familiar. The main thread hasn’t died, but the money first goes to “old assets” that can tell a new story.

First comes the ETF, then staking. Tucked in between is the $ETH yield narrative being brought back up again.

If there are other listed companies that follow this playbook—Lido, then restaking, and that lineup of ETH Beta stocks—the forum won’t be able to stay quiet.

And I’m not unfamiliar with losses like this.

Last time I saw institutions connect their narrative to the chain, I thought it was too convoluted and didn’t get in. Later, I could only watch others eat the meat, while I just held $BTC and stood there in place.

The places I’m afraid of going wrong are very straightforward too.

If this news is only a company’s financial move with no follow-up, then the buzz probably lasts just a day.

If it were me doing it now, I’d keep holding $BTC . I wouldn’t chase the highs, but I would go back and look again at the $ETH ecosystem for the targets that can pick up this narrative.

If you lose, don’t cue me. If you profit, buy me a cup of coffee.
