I don’t live in the USA, and I’ve long accepted that buying Apple or Tesla stocks is either a foreign broker with a mountain of paperwork and a month-long waiting period—or nothing at all. It was easier not to even start.

Then I came across #bStocksCIS — I opened the app I already had installed, and after a couple of taps I was already holding a position. The barrier I’d gotten used to was simply not there.

Before, I would have decided that if it was so easy, then there must be a hidden catch somewhere.

But the more I dig into it, the more I’m leaning toward another possibility: maybe the barrier wasn’t protection, but just outdated infrastructure that was finally bypassed. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if in half a year someone finds a reason why things weren’t as straightforward as they seemed in the first week.
