Spacex Acquires Cursor: A Tech Myth, or the Prelude to a Crash?
A tech myth—or the prelude to a crash?
According to SpaceX’s SEC Form 8-K filed on August 14, 2026, the company has officially completed its acquisition of Cursor’s parent company, Anysphere. The merger became effective on the same day, and Cursor is now a wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX.
This is an all-stock transaction with an implied valuation of approximately $60 billion. Cursor’s common and preferred stock will be converted into approximately 389 million shares of SpaceX Class A common stock (based on Cursor’s implied equity value of $60 billion and the volume-weighted average price over the seven trading days prior to SpaceX’s close). Certain restricted stock units (RSUs) and options will also be converted accordingly.
