European Central Bank report: adoption of cryptocurrency payments in the European Union area 0.2% is far beyond mobile payments and cash.
According to a Cointelegraph report, a survey conducted by the Central Bank showed that only 0.2% of online merchants in the European Union accept payment with digital currencies, while the acceptance rate at actual point-of-sale terminals is less than 1% and has not recorded any increase since 2024. Meanwhile, the acceptance rate for electronic payments rose from 36% to 68%, while the cash payment acceptance rate remained 92%. This survey covered 8,205% out of 21 European countries, and the Central Bank stated that consumer preferences are the first factor that determines merchants’ choice of payment method at 26%
