Why a low P/E doesn’t mean “the stock is cheap”?

A low P/E ≠ a cheap stock.

I went to check company metrics through bStocks and caught myself making a simple mistake: earlier I thought that the lower the P/E, the more выгодная the stock is.

In reality, the P/E shows how much investors pay for $1 of the company’s earnings.

For example, a P/E of 15 by itself tells you nothing. It’s important to compare it with competitors, the growth rate of earnings, and the sector.

So now I look at the P/E not as a “buy” signal, but as a starting point for further analysis.

bStocks is convenient to use to quickly see these metrics alongside the price.
