Finally completed the largest-ever initial financial audit. KPMG issued an unreserved opinion; reserves exceed liabilities by $6.814 billion.
On August 14, Tether, the issuer of USDT, announced that it had completed a full independent audit of its fiscal year 2025 financial statements by KPMG in the United States, and had received an unreserved audit opinion with a signing of no exceptions. This is the most positive opinion that an independent audit firm can issue. The audit is known as the “largest-ever initial financial audit.” KPMG conducted comprehensive substantive testing on Tether’s balance sheet, the composition of reserve assets, issued token liabilities, the statement of profit and loss, the statement of changes in equity, and the cash flow statement. It also physically inventoried every gold bar held by Tether to verify its existence and identifying information, rather than relying only on custodian reports.
