According to Yonhap, Doosan Enerbility Co. said Friday it has secured a contract from U.S. nuclear energy firm TerraPower to manufacture key equipment for the company's small modular reactor project in the United States. The South Korean plant builder will produce the guard vessel, internal structures and support structures for TerraPower's Natrium advanced reactor, but it did not disclose the deal value. The contract follows a December 2024 agreement between the two companies to carry out preliminary reviews of the three major components for TerraPower's first Natrium reactor. The 345-megawatt unit broke ground earlier this year and is under construction in Wyoming. The announcement came as TerraPower founder and chair Bill Gates was in Seoul for talks with major South Korean companies and government officials on expanding cooperation in nuclear energy.
