I’ll be honest, I used to think there was no easy way around this.
If an investor needs to prove they’re eligible, I assumed their identity would eventually have to become part of the onchain record.
Looking closer at Citadel 2 on @Dusk_Foundation changed that view for me.
The user can get a credential from a trusted License Provider after being checked offchain. Later, they only need to prove that they hold a valid, signed credential. Their wallet key, personal details, and the specific license used for the proof can stay private.
What caught my attention is that Citadel doesn’t pretend to solve the whole trust problem.
The Service Provider still decides which issuers it trusts, what requirements matter, and when a credential should no longer be accepted.
So it’s not removing trust. It’s changing what needs to be exposed when that trust is used.
For regulated applications, that distinction could be pretty important.
I’m still watching how this works under real-world pressure, but the idea of proving eligibility without putting someone’s identity onchain makes a lot more sense to me now.
