$SEI Sei is a general-purpose Layer 1 blockchain series (1) optimized for exchanging digital assets, and fully open source.

SEI is the original native service token. Current SEI use cases include:
- Network fees: Pay transaction fees on the Sei blockchain.
- Staking with proof-of-stake validators: SEI holders can choose to delegate their balances to validators or stake SEI to run their own validator to secure the network.
- Governance: SEI holders can participate in the protocol’s future governance.
- Original collateral: SEI can be used as liquidity or as native collateral for applications built on the Sei blockchain.
- Fee markets: Users can tip validators to prioritize their transactions, which can be shared between users who delegated their balances to that validator.
- Trading fees: SEI can be used as fees for trading platforms built on the Sei chain
