📉SK Hynix deep pullback appears to be over—reviewing the painful lessons from an overcrowded trade
Looking back at this round of $SKHYNIX market action, the maximum drawdown from the peak was nearly 60%, and it lasted for about a month and a half. During this period, whether it was the US stock storage sector or the entire crypto market, it was extremely punishing. The severity was almost comparable to last year’s 1011 Black Swan scenario.
In April–May, the storage sector started up. Back then, the hype hadn’t really taken off yet, and only a small number of community members were paying attention early. Then in June, the market went mainstream, and a large wave of crypto traders rushed in. They crowded into long positions on Hynix, Micron, and SanDisk. When July came and US stocks began a major pullback, many prominent figures and experienced traders chose to go against the trend to bottom-fish and hold positions through the volatility. In the end, many couldn’t withstand the swings and got liquidated out. On the derivatives market, you could also see a large number of long positions being cleared.
This taught every trader a lesson: in the market, the most dangerous trades are the ones where expectations are too aggressive and the positioning is highly crowded. Even if the logic is sound, when everyone piles into the same direction, things can easily turn out the opposite of what you expect.
The trading market has never been about dazzling returns over a single period—it’s about lasting long enough. It’s about respecting risk, and learning to avoid traps created by emotion. The market will always bring opportunities; only by protecting your principal do you have the right to wait for the next window. In a rotation market, besides momentum coins, community narrative projects are also worth watching. The Musk-concept “puppy dog” (a pure CTO model) is driven mainly by community consensus. In a choppy, range-bound phase, it’s an even bigger test of the community’s cohesion and long-term building.
