When I look at @Dusk_Foundation Dusk Network, I don’t think the first thing to ask is how many transactions it processes.

That number tells us activity.

It doesn’t necessarily tell us whether the network is solving the harder problem.

For me, that problem is simple to describe but difficult to build: how do you keep financial activity private while still making it possible to verify that the rules were followed?

Dusk is built around this idea, with confidential smart contracts and the XSC standard aimed at financial applications.

But privacy isn’t just about hiding information.

In the real world, users still need control, institutions still need accountability, and applications still need to execute correctly when conditions change.

That’s where things get interesting.

I care less about what a privacy-focused interface says before a transaction and more about what the protocol can actually enforce during execution.

Because saying something is private is easy.

Making that privacy a structural property of the system is much harder.

That requires cryptography, clear protocol rules and verifiable execution not just a polished dashboard or a good narrative.

Dusk still has difficult questions to answer.

Can it scale without compromising decentralization? Can confidential applications remain easy to use and interoperable? And can privacy coexist with the accountability that financial systems require?

I don’t think those questions weaken the idea.

They are the real test.

Maybe the future isn’t about choosing between transparency and privacy.

Maybe it’s about proving what needs to be proven without exposing everything else.
