#三菱ufj拟用区块链结算日本国债
According to the latest report by the Nikkei, #日本最大金融集團三菱UFJ金融集團 (MUFG) plans to introduce #區塊鏈技術 in fiscal year 2027, aiming to enable real-time settlement for Japan government bonds through “repurchase agreement” (Repo) transactions. This move is expected to significantly improve market capital efficiency and accelerate the modernization transition of traditional financial infrastructure.
At present, the standard settlement cycle for Japanese government bond transactions is “T+1” (settlement on the next business day after trade execution). MUFG intends to use its developed digital asset platform “Progmat” and related blockchain technologies to settle via tokenized deposits or stablecoins, thereby eliminating lengthy waiting times.
It is understood that the focus of this plan is to optimize the settlement layer for the “cash and collateral” of government bond transactions, rather than directly tokenizing the government bonds themselves. Since tokenization of government bonds still faces regulatory uncertainties, MUFG has chosen to first drive the digitization of the settlement process. This will not only shorten the period of capital being tied up and reduce settlement risk, but also help ease inconvenience for overseas investors caused by time-zone differences.
With the institutional and technological framework becoming increasingly mature, MUFG plans, after completing verification, to achieve full-scale rollout before fiscal year 2029, injecting strong liquidity and innovative momentum into Japan’s bond market.
