😆 Trump was sued over paid access to his posts

Earlier, Trump Media launched the Truth API—a service that gives traders and hedge funds ultra-fast access to posts from ten influential Truth Social accounts, including Donald Trump. The subscription costs about $1.2 million per year.

Now The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation, with support from CREW, have filed a lawsuit against Trump over the sale of early access to his official statements.

The plaintiffs argue that the president has no right to provide paying clients with access to government information before journalists and the general public. The suit claims that this model violates the First and Fifth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

In practice, for $1.2 million a year, market participants get Trump’s posts milliseconds earlier than everyone else—a benefit that can matter for algorithmic trading.
