Rosherville Pty Ltd, an ASX shareholder, has notified the Australian Securities Exchange that it plans to seek Federal Court permission to bring a statutory derivative action against some former ASX officers and directors. According to Odaily, if approved, Rosherville would file the case on ASX's behalf.

ASX said the proposed action does not allege wrongdoing by ASX itself, but it did not disclose the identities of the former officers involved, the specific duties allegedly breached, or the remedies it intends to seek. The Federal Court has not yet heard whether the case can proceed.

ASX began work in 2016 on a blockchain-based replacement for its CHESS clearing and settlement system, paused the project in November 2022, and abandoned the blockchain plan in May 2023. On July 3, 2026, the Federal Court ordered ASX to pay a $14.4 million fine and $2.1 million in legal costs to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
