Frankly, this pullback in US stocks is kind of interesting. Semiconductor stocks led the decline—AMAT dropped more than five points. The two semiconductor design names were even worse, down almost ten points. Even NVDA was weak, and MSFT is falling too. After the earnings report, Netflix got hit as well, dropping about seven points. With tech so heavily weighted and hit like this, the S&P 500 is down about 1%. To be honest, with breadth like this, it’s pretty clear that money is clearly taking a defensive stance.
I’ve been thinking that this move may actually be linked to the crypto market. When risk appetite tightens, liquidity gets constrained too, and BTC also has a hard time staying out of it. The energy sector, however, is up about 1% against the trend—suggesting the money isn’t leaving so much as relocating, moving into defensives and value. At times like this, the biggest taboo is going all-in with your brain on fire. Position size matters far more than direction. Anyway, I’ve kept leverage quite low.
This week is packed with Big Tech earnings—Alphabet and Tesla are both reporting, and the overall mood is naturally cautious. My view is: take some profits in the fast-rising segments first, keep a bit of “ammo,” and then reassess once the earnings land. What about you guys this week—are you planning to add and buy the dip, or wait and observe? Chat in the comments. After all, everyone has their own rhythm.
