$STORJ After this surge, I treated it as emotion only and not as a trend.

When I saw it on the subway, the spot was already at $0.0599. In 24 hours it jumped +42.6%. The high touched $0.0609, while the low was still $0.0414.

What’s most scary about this kind of move isn’t the percentage increase—it’s that spot trading volume was only $1.85M, while the futures side was already at $14.64M.

The 7.9x gap is right there. If you tell me it’s all real spot buy orders, I don’t really buy it.

Also, the funding rate is still -0.4433%, which suggests there aren’t fewer people chasing shorts—but the price can still stay up at high levels.

This looks very much like a typical squeeze/short-compression setup.

A lot of people see a negative funding rate and get excited, thinking the shorts haven’t died and there’s still meat left afterward.

But I’ve eaten this kind of loss.

Last time, a small coin suddenly pumped with volume. I was itchy and chased it. After the pop, it started going sideways—the futures side first ground people down, and then the spot cooled off. My stop-loss on that trade was especially ugly.

$STORJ Right now there’s one more point you can’t pretend not to notice: the futures open interest is sitting at 67,682,670 contracts.

Open interest isn’t low, and the trading volume is clearly more skewed toward futures. That means the main force that put it on the board today is emotional in the short term, not part of a long-term narrative.

If you ask me why it got on the board, I’d say two words: hunting for upside.

It’s not that the project suddenly got rediscovered by everyone. It’s that the market is looking for volatility on small-cap coins—whoever stands on the wrong side pays the first lesson.

And I’m not saying it’s immediately done.

If it keeps going, we’ll need to see whether the spot side can actually hold it up—at least don’t let the futures side keep singing as a solo act.

If it were me, I wouldn’t chase $STORJ at this position. I’d rather wait for it to pull back, see whether the trading volume can still hold, and then decide whether to try a first entry.

If you lose money, don’t cue me. If you make money, treat me to a coffee.
