Overnight Recap: In the past 24 hours, liquidations of crypto contracts across the entire network totaled $163 million, with 66,632 positions wiped out.
77% came from long positions—those who chased higher were the first ones carried away.
BTC liquidated $46.95 million (92% were longs), ETH liquidated $39.57 million (long/short 68/32), and these two coins accounted for 53% of the entire network.
But when you flip over to the altcoin side, it’s completely the opposite: 80% of DOGE liquidations were short positions, and 73% of CYS liquidations were shorts.
In the same 24-hour window, one side was killing longs while the other was killing shorts. Treating “Is today a bullish (long) or bearish (short) market?” as a single unified answer is itself a misjudgment.
There’s also an easy-to-overlook figure: BEAT had 6,254 liquidations, more than BTC’s 4,339, yet the amount was only one-tenth of BTC’s—average $774 per liquidation, while BTC was $10,821.
In that kind of market, it’s packed with small-ticket, high-leverage positions. One needle drop can trigger a chain reaction clearing a large batch. The liquidation count looks terrifying, but in reality it’s the density of retail positions amplified by leverage—not big capital moving.
The most brutal single trade: Binance BTCUSDT long position, $2.45 million, cleared to zero in one go.
