Twitter restored the account and said it was "mistakenly flagged as spam."

Ethereum aggregation platform Arbitrum’s Twitter account was suspended on Monday. However, the Arbitrum Foundation said Twitter flagged the account in error and reinstated it within hours.

Harry Kalodner, co-founder of Offchain Labs, the company behind Arbitrum, initially confirmed the suspension in a text message to CoinDesk, though he said he was unsure of Twitter’s reasoning. “The Arbitrum Foundation, which now controls the account, is investigating,” Kalodner said.

The account was eventually restored. According to a representative from the Arbitrum Foundation, Twitter support explained in a message that “we have systems that find and remove multiple automated spam accounts in bulk, and your account was mistakenly marked as spam.”

The Arbitrum suspension comes less than a week after the much-hyped launch of Arbitrum’s new ARB governance token. ARB’s launch, like similar popular coin launches, was exploited by scammers who used fake social media accounts and elaborate phishing schemes to steal funds from unsuspecting investors. Many of these scam accounts still exist on Twitter.

Togrhul Mahararramov, a developer at ethereum aggregation platform Scroll, said it’s “always bad” that Twitter has allowed scam accounts to proliferate while genuine Arbitrum accounts are taken offline.

Arbitrum is a layer 2 aggregation platform that allows users to transact on the Ethereum blockchain and pay low transaction fees. According to DefiLlama, this is currently the largest Ethereum rollup by transaction volume and total value locked. The Arbitrum DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) – made up of ARB holders – took over development of the platform last week with the launch of the token. Previously, the platform and its Twitter account were officially maintained by Offchain Labs.
