Tokenisation : temple → blocs
🏛️ Wall Street is no longer fighting the blockchain. It’s quietly moving in— with billions of dollars.
While the general public watches BTC price moves, a silent revolution is underway: the tokenisation of real-world assets (RWAs). And the figures tell a story that goes far beyond the usual crypto speculation.
The scale of the movement:
The market for tokenised RWAs has exploded—several analyses now place it between $27 billion and $33 billion on-chain, compared with barely $5 to $6 billion at the start of 2025. Growth of over 400% in a little more than a year. Tokenised U.S. Treasury bills still dominate by far, but the real surprise comes from elsewhere: tokenised stocks.
A concrete case that changes the game:
In May 2026, the DTCC—the organization that clears almost all U.S. stock trades and holds more than $114,000 billion in deposited securities—announced a pilot for trading tokenised equities. More than 50 major financial institutions are participating: BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Citigroup. A full commercial launch is planned as early as October 2026. At the same time, the SEC has approved a proposal from Nasdaq allowing certain stocks to be traded and settled using tokens.
What you really need to take away:
The tokenised equities market jumped from around $20 million at the end of 2024 to over $1 billion by March 2026, with more than 185,000 holders. On its own, Ondo Finance holds about 60% of this emerging market through its Global Markets platform. We’re no longer in experimentation—we’re in the building of a parallel financial infrastructure.
💬 Do you think tokenising stocks will truly reshuffle the cards of traditional finance, or is it still just a narrative ahead of its real adoption?
