The .sol update is coming soon to Solana
Now #SolanaNameService is preparing the .sol domains so that in the future they can work as normal web addresses in browsers (like .com), thanks to a Solana Foundation request to ICANN to convert .sol into a real TLD (top-level domain).
To make that possible without breaking anything:
- Your current .sol domain is converted into .sns (keeps everything: ownership, records, subdomains, on-chain identity, etc.).
- You automatically get a new .sol with the same name (free, no claim, no signing anything).
Only domains registered before August 17 are included in the airdrop (that day registrations are paused and a snapshot is taken).
By late September or early October, you’ll receive the new .sol, and then resolution starts being enabled progressively.
No need to claim, no need to sign or pay anything. Stay tuned!
