Do you have this feeling—when the news just came out, the price didn’t really move, but suddenly everyone in the discussion section swarmed over.

This time they’re targeting $TRUMP . It’s not that it’s moving that hard on its own—Trump Media has added 4661.84 BTC, and its holdings are already at 12061.66 BTC.

When companies put Bitcoin onto their balance sheets, the market has always liked it.

But this time there’s a twisted part: the news is tagged with the words “Trump,” yet the one that’s actually linked—$TRUMP —barely moved. Over the past 24 hours it’s been hovering around $1.4980. The intraday high and low are $1.54 to $1.476.

I saw this in the elevator this morning and, on a whim, switched over to check $TRUMP . Spot traded only 3.27 million, while the perpetuals first ran up to 28.31 million—an 8.6x difference.

It’s very much like a bunch of people are first taking positions in the perps to grab the sentiment spot, betting on the “name association” meal.

But the funding rate is only +0.0050%—not hot enough to feel like it’s boiling. The open interest of 18.08 million BTC also suggests the chips are still stacking up. Plenty of people are involved, and yes—there are real participants, but the direction isn’t unified.

I personally lean toward watching from the sidelines.

If I were to act, I’d first need to see whether $TRUMP can climb back and hold near today’s high—keeping $1.54 firmly underneath.

If it can’t hold it, once the news hype passes, the crowd that rushed into the perps first can easily end up shoving themselves off the train.

I also admit I might have missed a bit—these things with political names can definitely come with emotion that doesn’t always follow logic.

But just looking at the current price and volume, I still don’t want to be the one who steps in and takes that spike of excitement on behalf of someone else.

What do you think this time—has the market latched onto the reserved story of $BTC , or is it simply fixated on the name $TRUMP ?
