💡 TradFi Primer | Funding Rate Practical Interpretation

Funding Rate = the periodic fee exchanged between long and short sides of perpetual futures

Rules:
Rate > 0 → longs pay shorts (bullish market)
Rate < 0 → shorts pay longs (bearish market)
Rate = 0 → long and short are balanced, with no extra carrying cost

Practical use:
The higher the funding rate → the higher the cost of chasing longs, and positions are gradually worn down
Funding rate keeps rising → a crowded-long signal; watch out for a reversal
Funding rate is close to 0 → the lowest entry friction; the best time to go long on the trend

Current gold (XAUUSDT) funding rate is 0%, meaning zero carrying cost on existing positions—right now it’s one of the cheapest long-entry cost assets in TradFi.
