Gains have exceeded 100,000%. A woman bought a stock for less than $4,000 and, afterward, never sold it. Now, the value of that holding is worth more than $4 million.

She bought shares in the U.S. discount retailer Ross Stores.

In 1988, Ross Stores opened a store in the Bay Area where she lived. She went to see it in person and felt that a low-price treasure-hunting business like this could expand nationwide.

She then called her broker, bought 500 shares for $3,813.50, and after receiving the bill by mail, sent a check back to pay.

Ross Stores later underwent five stock splits; the 500 shares automatically became 16,000 shares. She held them for 38 years, and they grew more than 1,000-fold.$BTC
