🔥 Big news! Trump is set to hold a crypto summit at the White House next week!
On August 19, President Trump will meet with CEOs from Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Kraken, Robinhood, Polymarket, Kalshi, and other major players in the crypto and prediction markets at the White House. SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Chair Michael Selig will both attend. Leaders from traditional financial institutions such as the NYSE and Nasdaq have also been invited.
The meeting is seen as a warm-up for the first official session of the newly established CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee. The main event, however, comes in September—when the CLARITY Act will face a crucial vote in the Senate.
As for the CLARITY Act, it aims to set up a federal regulatory framework for digital assets and clearly define the jurisdictional boundaries between the SEC and the CFTC. But the odds of passage are not encouraging so far—Polymarket puts the probability at only 19%, while Galaxy Digital estimates it at just 10%. The two parties still have significant differences on issues such as ethics in officials’ crypto-related dealings and stablecoin incentives.
However, Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at VanEck, offered a bold prediction: if the CLARITY Act is ultimately passed, it will trigger a “massive relief rally” in L1 tokens. Once regulatory clarity takes effect, native assets on public chains could see a surge.
Will next week’s White House meeting be the prelude to a breakthrough in crypto regulation? The Senate vote on September 15 may be the turning point that determines the fate of L1.
