ETF funds have flowed back in—who will take the baton in the next phase of the crypto market?

The market can be quite interesting at times.

While retail investors are still hesitating about whether the rally is over, institutional capital has already begun to express its stance with real actions.

According to the latest data, U.S. spot BTC ETF inflows have shown a clear rebound. Starting in early August, multiple consecutive trading days have recorded net inflows, and in just a few days, the accumulated funds have returned to a relatively high level. At the same time, ETH ETFs have also maintained positive fund flows, indicating that traditional capital has not left the crypto market—it’s simply looking for new allocation opportunities.

But here’s a key point:

ETF inflows ≠ the price will rise immediately.

In many past rallies, capital entered first, and prices only gradually reflected that later.

What the market is really watching now are three variables:

First, macro interest-rate expectations.

If the market continues to price in rate cuts, improves the liquidity environment, and high-volatility assets like BTC tend to receive favor from funds.

Second, whether ETF fund inflows can be sustained.

Inflows over just one or two days are limited in significance. What truly matters is whether institutional capital forms a sustained allocation trend.

Third, whether ETH can take over the market narrative.

Compared with BTC’s “digital gold” logic, ETH currently carries expectations more around the on-chain ecosystem, RWA, stablecoins, and the development of financial infrastructure.

So for this cycle, I’m more inclined to view it as institutions re-positioning themselves, rather than a simple short-term rebound.

The market has entered a new stage:

Retail looks at price; institutions look at positioning.

If ETF funds continue to flow back, and the macro environment cooperates, BTC and ETH could both move into the next phase of re-pricing.

Of course, a true confirmation of the trend still requires trading volume and fund continuity to align.

This is not the time to chase gains blindly, but to observe whether capital has truly started placing fresh bets.$BTC
