On Friday, the U.S. Treasury froze the assets of an offshore company owned by Sargent, which is involved in Venezuela’s oil extraction business. Sources say that at the same time, the Treasury issued a license document allowing him to dispose of and exit his related interests in the company. The U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed penalties on Sargent’s Blue Wave Properties LLC, which is currently conducting business in a sanctioned status.
