Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan sign a defense agreement
to enhance collective security
Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan announced that they have reached a trilateral defense agreement aimed at enhancing collective security and supporting regional stability, during a meeting in Makkah between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The agreement comes as part of expanding defense cooperation among the three countries in light of the increasing security challenges in the region.
According to the joint statement, the agreement provides that any armed attack targeting any one of the three countries will be considered an attack against all parties, thereby reinforcing the principle of collective defense and enhancing security and military coordination between them. The agreement is based on the historical ties that bring together Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, as well as on shared strategic interests and defense cooperation that has been in place for years.
