I just opened the mempool and started browsing, and I almost thought something was wrong with the network. Crazy—just putting in a 20–30 gwei fee couldn’t get into the queue at all; I could only see transactions behind being confirmed one by one, while my transaction itself seemed completely stuck. The reason is that many people still don’t understand how the mechanism works. In situations like this, your options are either to learn from the “smart money” and raise the fee slightly right away to force your way into the queue, or just give up and wait until the busy period passes before sending. Some people try to save a little on fees and end up having their transaction held up for 2 hours, and in the end they can’t take it anymore—they have to cancel the order and resend.
Coincidentally, lately L1/L2 have been actively rolling out incentives. The seniors have been loudly “farm, withdraw, then sell” on other chains, but when they come back to mainnet to do the withdrawals, they still have to linger in the mempool—really like doing something unnecessary. That’s it, I won’t complain anymore. I’ll check the whale addresses to see if anyone is secretly moving assets while the network is congested. See you next time.
