Ripple expands its institutional tokenization infrastructure
Ripple president Monica Long outlined the company’s overall strategy on August 4, after Ripple announced strategic investments in Zilo and Licuido to expand the infrastructure for institutional capital markets connected to the $XRP Ledger. She described a swift transition from pilot banking projects to production activity and positioned Ripple’s digital asset portfolio across the entire lifecycle of tokenized assets.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen a genuine transformation: from bank pilot projects to production, from the issuance of tokenized assets — such as money market funds and liquidity funds — to their use. Institutional capital markets are moving in one direction: on-chain, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” Long said on X, adding:
“At Ripple, our goal remains to provide end-to-end digital asset infrastructure, enabling institutional participants to leverage the entire lifecycle of a tokenized asset on the $XRP Ledger.”
Those investments in ZILO and Licuido add fund tokenization and institutional liquidity infrastructure to Ripple’s broader strategy for capital markets, helping to enable the issuance, trading, and settlement of funds on the $XRP Ledger.
Ripple’s Mint platform complements that strategy. Launched on July 23, it provides financial institutions with a unified interface to access, mint, redeem, and manage Ripple USD, or $RLUSD, while also enabling issuance and transfer of the stablecoin through settlement systems that are both fiat-based and blockchain-based.
