According to CNBC, several stocks posted sharp moves in midday trading. Shopify surged about 17% on third-quarter guidance, projecting revenue growth in the low-30% range versus a FactSet consensus of 26.5%. Alphabet slid more than 4% after Google said it is reshuffling its artificial intelligence divisions, with chief scientist Jeff Dean departing after 27 years. SpaceX fell 8% following its first quarterly report since going public in June, posting second-quarter revenue of $7.81 billion, above an LSEG consensus of $6.93 billion, with capital expenditures of $18.37 billion, up 550% year-over-year. Gold miners rallied as gold futures touched their highest since June 18; the VanEck Gold Miners ETF (GDX) popped 6.8%, Newmont rose 7% and Barrick Mining gained 6%. AMD slid 6% on second-quarter results and in-line third-quarter revenue guidance of about $13 billion. Amgen jumped 4% to a 52-week high after posting adjusted earnings of $6.29 per share on revenue of $10.05 billion and raising full-year guidance. Eli Lilly rose more than 3% on an earnings and revenue beat and raised full-year revenue guidance. Charles River Laboratories climbed over 11%, Booking Holdings rose more than 5%, Arista Networks gained 4%, and Wynn Resorts jumped 7% on results that topped expectations. Disney rose almost 2% despite mixed fiscal third-quarter results. On the downside, Insulet tumbled more than 20% after lowering its 2026 Omnipod U.S. growth forecast to 17% to 19%. DaVita fell around 19% and Teradata plunged about 20% on soft guidance. Uber Technologies fell 7% after third-quarter bookings and earnings guidance missed, and Pinterest slid 8% on guidance. Flutter Entertainment dropped more than 11% after saying CEO Peter Jackson would leave, with Dan Taylor to replace him on Oct. 1, and lowered its full-year revenue guidance.
