The Philippines’ outsourcing industry, which employs about 1.9 million people and generates $40bn in annual revenue, is facing pressure as companies adopt AI, according to BBC. Workers told the BBC they were asked to train AI systems before being made redundant, while industry leaders said more than two-thirds of association members are already running AI pilots. The International Labour Organization estimates 12.7 million Filipinos are in jobs exposed to generative AI, and the government has committed to upskilling more than 300,000 outsourcing workers.
