🚨 South Korea confirms crypto tax starting in 2027.

South Korea’s finance minister, Choo Yun-chul, confirmed that the crypto tax will come into effect on January 1, 2027, stressing that there will be no further delays.

Under the new system, annual profits exceeding 2.5 million Korean won (about $1,800) will be taxed at a rate of 20%, rising to 22% after adding local taxes.

This tax was originally planned to be applied several years ago, but it was postponed three times due to political controversy and concerns about its impact on investors.

The decision raises concerns about trading volumes in South Korea—one of the largest crypto markets for retail investors in the world—where the new tax could affect investor activity after it takes effect.
