A company called Core Scientific has signed the biggest AI computing power deal of up to $14 billion with AMD, aiming to convert its mining sites into AI data centers. Once the news broke, CORZ surged 20% in a single day, and AMD $AMD also jumped more than 10%; in pre-market trading it was still above $500.

In plain terms, this is a snapshot of Bitcoin miners collectively turning around to抱 AI’s “thigh.” If mining rigs’ computing capacity sits idle, it’s a waste—better to rent it out to large models. AMD has now hit two targets at once: its traditional AI chip business, plus incremental orders from the mining infrastructure transition.

But let me pour some cold water. These kinds of big orders have two major risks: a longer delivery timeline that eats into profits, and AI capital expenditures—if they cool off—orders can be cut just as quickly. A sharp rally doesn’t necessarily mean you can hold it steadily. Those who get it, get it.
