Alpenglow Update – Current status

Preparations for Solana’s network upgrade are entering the decisive phase. Over the past few days, several important developments have taken place:

BLS keys now live on Mainnet
Validators can and must register their BLS public keys. These are a prerequisite for Alpenglow’s new consensus mechanism.

Validator Admission Ticket (VAT)
The new Validator Admission Ticket is the next step. It is a core component of Alpenglow.

Agave 4.3 is being prepared
Actual Alpenglow activation is tied to Agave 4.3. This version is in the final preparation phase and is the key milestone before the Mainnet rollout.

Bug bounty is running
Anza has launched a bug bounty program for Alpenglow components. This indicates that developers are now primarily ensuring stability and security ahead of activation.

The official goal remains activation in Q3 2026. A Solana details page states that Agave 4.3 is expected for October 2026. No binding activation date has been published.

In recent days, the average slot time on Solana has been much higher than usual. This is not proof, but if, at the same time, validators are updating their software and the preparations are underway, it could be related to the ongoing transition phase. There is no official confirmation of this.

What is clear, however, is that preparations have progressed significantly. BLS keys are live, validators are taking action, Agave 4.3 is next, and security checks are underway. Everything suggests that Solana has entered the final stage for Alpenglow.
