$SHIB is one of those tokens I check almost out of habit rather than genuine excitement, but today's chart actually made me pause. It ripped from around 0.0049 up to nearly 0.0058 in a matter of hours, more than doubling its usual daily range, before cooling off and settling back near 0.0053. That kind of sharp spike followed by a pullback is classic meme coin behavior, fast excitement, quick profit taking, then a search for a new base.

What I find interesting is that despite being one of the oldest and most recognized meme tokens in the space, SHIB still moves like a small cap altcoin when volatility kicks in. Nine and a half billion tokens traded in 24 hours sounds massive, but that's normal for a token priced in fractions of a cent. The real signal is the trend across timeframes, up nearly 29% over the week and 27% over the month, yet still down double digits over 90 days and down more than 60% across the year. That's a token trying to recover ground it lost a long time ago, not one making fresh highs.

Meme coins like this tend to run hardest when overall market sentiment turns risk on, since traders rotate profits from majors into higher beta names looking for quick multiples. The danger is obvious too, these rallies can evaporate just as quickly once momentum traders exit.

Does SHIB still hold relevance in this cycle, or is it mostly nostalgia keeping it alive at this point?
