I’ve always believed that the best way to understand a new technology is not just to read the introduction, but to get hands-on and experience it directly.
Recently, I participated in and tested the Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV) Public Testnet at @BabylonLabs_io , and gained a much more intuitive understanding of the entire process.
Before I tried it, I also had some questions about how BTC enters DeFi.
Bitcoin is one of the most mature crypto assets today, but in the past, many DeFi applications required users to first convert BTC into Wrapped BTC, or enter other ecosystems through cross-chain methods.
TBV offers a new direction:
Let Native Bitcoin be used as collateral to participate in on-chain finance.
The whole test experience process is fairly clear:
Step 1: Enter the TBV Testnet app.
Step 2: Use the test Faucet to obtain the assets needed for the test environment.
Step 3: Experience the Native Bitcoin-backed Borrowing flow.
Step 4: Monitor the transaction status and submit feedback to the team.
Through hands-on operation, I came to better understand the problem TBV is trying to solve.
It’s not simply adding a borrowing feature; it’s exploring how to keep Bitcoin’s native properties while connecting it to DeFi applications.
At present, TBV’s first application scenario is the borrowing experience built on Aave v4.
Users can use native BTC as collateral and borrow supported assets from the Ethereum ecosystem.
The reason I’m paying attention to TBV is that it emphasizes four directions:
native BTC;
self-custody;
no need for centralized intermediaries;
more efficient connection to DeFi.
The most important value of the testnet stage is that real users get to participate.
Every bit of operational feedback and every experience issue can help the product keep improving.
