Liquidation isn’t because you’re unlucky—it’s because you didn’t understand what rolling over (rolling positions) really means.

When many people talk about rolling over, their brains immediately think of just four words: “Profit, then add more.”

Make a bit of profit, add a bit more; profit again, add again—feeling like you’re about to take off.

Then the market turns. All the earlier gains get given back, and in serious cases even your principal gets wiped out.

After that, they start blaming the broker/market makers, blaming the行情, blaming luck.

But the real problem has always been with yourself.

The people who truly know how to roll over never take risks with their principal just to gamble.

When you’re right, take profit and keep going; when you’re wrong, the loss should come from profit, not principal. As long as your principal is there, opportunities remain.

In the past, I’d feel like I was great after two winning trades, increase my position size more and more—then one big bearish candle wiped out my gains in just a few days.

Later I finally understood: the most important thing about rolling over isn’t making money fast—it’s not dying fast.

These are my rules:

First make money, then consider adding to your position; if you haven’t moved beyond your target/expectation, don’t add.

Try to keep your principal as stable as possible—use profits to roll. After a few consecutive winning trades, instead of increasing risk, reduce the position size.

Many people lose money because once they start making profits, they get cocky. They think they’ve “figured out the market” and that the next trade will make even more.

Then one move knocks them right back to square one.

Remember this: rolling over isn’t to let you double in one shot—it’s to slowly grow the money you’ve earned.

People who can stay in the market rely on nothing but consistency.

They rely on controlling their hands and protecting their profits.
