Company Strategy announced the launch of the Bitcoin Security Consortium. The initiative’s partners plan to invest $15 million over the next three years in the long-term security of the Bitcoin network.
The founding members include Anchorage Digital, ARK Invest, BlackRock, Block, Blockstream, Coinbase, Fidelity Digital Assets, Galaxy, and Strategy.
The group does not intend to participate in
direct amendments to the protocol of the first cryptocurrency or act on behalf of its developers.
Each consortium participant independently determines what purposes to allocate funds to.
The organization’s first focus area is preparing for long-term risks from quantum computing. In Strategy, they emphasized that at the moment there are no quantum computers capable of posing a large-scale threat to the cryptography of digital gold.
