Nine years is a long time in the crypto industry. It’s also a long time in a person’s life.

When Binance launched in 2017, nobody knew what the future would bring. Some of the people who joined in those early years are still here. They built products, developed communities, onboarded newcomers, answered countless questions, and helped shape Binance over the past nine years.

As Binance grew, so did they. They took on new roles, moved to other countries, got married, became parents, built lifelong friendships, and found opportunities they never expected when they first joined.

That’s exactly what this year’s anniversary is about— “Made by you”. We talked with three longtime employees and three Binance Angels about what they created, what they remember most, and how their years at Binance shaped their lives.

From one author to millions of learners

Enrique joined Binance in late 2018 as one of the very first members of the Binance Academy team. He worked as a freelance crypto author and was already a Binance user when he saw the opening and applied. At the time, he was the only content author on the Academy team.

“The company was relatively new, and we had a great startup atmosphere,” he says. “I remember being impressed by how smart my colleagues were, and I was doing everything I could to learn from them as much as possible.”

In those early years, the Academy team was small and focused on creating as much educational content as possible for a rapidly growing industry. As the platform expanded, Enrique saw the work he helped create being translated into more than 30 languages and made accessible to millions of people around the world.

“I know there’s still a lot more work to be done and improvements to make, but what I helped create and grow—Binance Academy—will always be something I’m proud of.”

Over the years, he grew from an author to a senior editor, hiring and training larger teams as Binance Academy expanded. His life changed too. Joining Binance meant moving from Brazil and adapting to life far from his family. Later, he got married and built his own family.

“Looking back, I feel grateful and I consider myself lucky to have had the chance to join Binance at such an early stage.”

Continue the legacy

Since 2018, Wenqi has supported communities in Southeast Asia and Africa as a Binance Angel, moderating the English-language global Telegram channel and joining Binance events around the world.

His connection to the Binance community is also deeply personal.

Wenqi’s late twin brother shared his love for Binance—often wearing Binance merch and calling himself a “proud member of the Binance family.” After his brother died in a road traffic accident, this connection took on a new meaning.

“When I received his last belongings—his black hoodie, the bracelet I once gave him from Sri Lanka—grief and pride blended into one clear, unmistakable message: keep building.”

Wenqi carried this message into his community work. In 2025, he received the Community Builder Award at Binance Blockchain Week, which, he says, he accepted on behalf of both of them.

“Binance was never just a platform for me,” he says. “It’s where my brother’s pride lived, and where I now carry it forward—community by community.”

Grow together with the community

Sisi joined Binance in early 2020 after an interview for the host role on Block 101—one of Binance’s early podcasts. She later moved into operations work with the community, and her responsibilities expanded to social media, as well as events and branding across Asia.

Most clearly from her earliest days, she remembers three things: pace, passion, and constant innovation.

As a newcomer to this industry, Sisi studied cryptocurrencies while keeping up with an ecosystem that was changing at a wild speed. She joined during the DeFi boom of 2020–2021, when new products, apps, and ways to use cryptocurrencies appeared almost every day. Keeping a close watch on industry developments became part of her job.

“The crypto space is community-oriented by nature,” she says. “A successful project is inseparable from a cohesive community.”

She also noticed how her own approach to work had changed. Years of shifting responsibilities, international initiatives, and ever-evolving user needs made her more adaptable and more ready to take on new challenges. It also highlighted the importance of staying close to users.

“Every time I respond sincerely to a client’s request—even something as minor as guiding them through a product feature so they can use our service seamlessly—sincere gratitude and positive feedback confirm my goal,” she says.

A volunteer path full of firsts

Sehrese, known in the community as Jassia, had several years of community management experience when she joined as a Binance Angel in February 2021.

Since then, she has supported communities in Pakistan and the wider Binance ecosystem, moderating more than 20 communities on Telegram and Discord, running online events, mentoring new Angels, and taking on the role of Feedback Buddy for the Binance Pakistan community.

Her contribution has been recognized with several awards; in particular, she was named Binance Angel of the Year in 2025. But when Jassia looks back, some of her most important milestones happened well beyond the screen.

During her time at Binance, she flew on a plane for the first time, took an international trip for the first time, stayed in a hotel for the first time, and eventually started traveling abroad on her own.

“They weren’t just trips,” she says. “They became life-changing memories, and I’ll always cherish them.”

What began as volunteering for a community she believed in became one of the most meaningful chapters of her life.

“Binance didn’t just give me opportunities,” says Jassia. “It gave me confidence, lifelong friendship, unforgettable memories, and a global family.”

“The Hot Air Balloon King” and other reasons to stay

Tram joined Binance in early 2021, knowing almost nothing about cryptocurrencies. The team saw an advantage in that: if an absolute newcomer could learn to navigate the industry, she could help make it easier for other newcomers too.

She started with localization and content marketing, and then gradually moved into social media and community work as the team in Vietnam grew.

Her strongest first impression was the relationships that users already had with Binance.

“I never thought people could love a brand that much,” she recalls. At offline events, the Binance booth would draw long lines of people waiting to play games, get merch, or simply chat with the team. “I even joked with my colleagues that I felt like an idol for a day.”

Over the years, she came to understand where that excitement came from. At one of the annual Binance community birthday celebrations in Vietnam, a community member known as “The Hot Air Balloon King” told her that he started a small hot air balloon business—and that Binance had been part of that journey.

“It was such a simple conversation, but it stayed with me ever since,” she says. “Seeing how the Binance community became part of someone’s personal story and brought something positive into their life makes me proud to be part of it.”

Nearly six years later, Tram says she’s most proud that she helped build a community where many familiar faces have stayed for years. Her personal life has also changed: during her time at Binance, she got married and became a mother.

“When I look back, I don’t just see projects or campaigns,” she says. “I see how much I’ve grown as a person.”

Open the first door

Max has been part of the Binance Angels community for almost five years. He started out as a local-level volunteer, and later moved into mentorship and assessment roles, supporting the Binance Argentina and Binance LATAM communities through moderation, events, and community initiatives.

One of the contributions he’s most proud of is a bootcamp created to give new Angel candidates a more structured introduction to the community. Over time, this initiative was rolled out globally.

For Max, the biggest reward was watching the people who took this path grow.

“Over these years, what motivates me most is seeing how people who came in knowing nothing about the crypto world eventually learn to navigate the ecosystem,” he says. “Helping open those first doors—for colleagues, for the community, for those just starting out—that’s what gives everything meaning.”

In 2025, Max was recognized as a Local Community Dynamo (Americas & LATAM) at the Binance Angels Awards—an achievement, he says, that reflects the broader community that supported him throughout his journey.

“Made by you”

These six stories don’t share a single definition of what it means to build Binance: some created products, others built communities, mentored newcomers, shared knowledge, or simply stayed by someone’s side—year after year.

Their stories are different, but they all reflect the same idea behind Binance’s ninth anniversary: the company has always been shaped by people who contribute to it.
