The Ethereum validator exit queue has nearly emptied for the first time since July of last year, significantly reducing selling pressure in the market. According to Beaconcha, the current queue is only 32 Ethereum — the waiting time has decreased to one minute.

This drop of 99.9% compared to the peak of 2.67 million ETH in mid-September looks impressive. At the same time, the entry queue has reached its highest level since mid-November — 1.3 million ETH, signaling a renewed interest in Ethereum staking.

Validators are in no rush to sell

"The exit queue for ETH is practically empty," notes the CTO of Asymetrix and founder of ETHKyiv. "No one wants to sell their staked ETH."

Tevis, the founder of the trading app AlphaLedger, adds: "ETH reserves on exchanges are at decade lows. Selling pressure is fading, and now we see that the entry queue for validators significantly outpaces the exit queue — this is related to BitMine and ETFs that stake their ETH for yield."

Exiting from staking is often seen as a sign that validators want to free up assets for sale, change yield opportunities, or rebalance portfolios. Staking, on the contrary, demonstrates confidence in the long-term profitability of the cryptocurrency.

How the queue system works

The exit queue of validators primarily controls the speed at which validators can fully exit or cease participation in network consensus and validation. This queue limits voluntary and forced exits to prevent a sudden mass exodus that could disrupt network stability.

Validators remain active, earning rewards, but risk penalties while in the queue. It is important to distinguish between the exit queue and the withdrawal queue — the latter represents the payout mechanism for partial withdrawals from validators, automatically removing excess rewards without exiting or ceasing participation.

A zero exit queue indicates no list of validators awaiting the initiation of a full exit. This points to a reduction in overall unstaking pressure and fewer mass exits, allowing any new exit requests to be processed immediately.

BitMine increases stakes

The world's largest holder of Ethereum in corporate reserves — BitMine — has aggressively sent assets to staking in recent weeks. The company first began staking ETH on December 26 and added another 82,560 Ethereum worth approximately $260 million to the entry queue on January 3.

According to the latest announcement, BitMine has a total of 659,219 ETH staked worth $2.1 billion at current market prices. The firm chaired by Tom Lee currently holds just over 4.1 million ETH, which accounts for about 3.4% of the total supply, valued at approximately $13 billion.

Such activity from BitMine largely defines the current trend of validator queues and may influence the long-term dynamics of staking on the Ethereum network. An empty exit queue combined with growing interest in staking creates favorable conditions for reducing selling pressure in the market.

From the perspective of machine data analysis, an empty exit queue may signal the beginning of a new phase of staking concentration in the hands of institutional players. BitMine already controls 3.4% of the total ETH supply — such centralization resembles the early stages of Bitcoin mining when large pools gradually captured a share of the network.
