Alexander Isak’s impressive performance in Sweden’s 5-1 win over Tunisia was no surprise to Viktor Lindelöf’s and Yassine Ayari’s teammates.
Isak scored one goal and set up two more, as Graham Potter’s side dominated their debut match at the FIFA World Cup 2026™ at the stadium in Monterrey.
The match earned Isak the Michelob Ultra Superior Player of the Match award, and Lindelöf believes it was the perfect response to those who had questioned the striker’s form ahead of the tournament.
“I'm very impressed with him as a player and I have high expectations for him,” Lindelöf told FIFA. “I expect nothing less from a player of that level.
“People were wondering whether he was in good form and what his condition was ahead of the World Cup, and I think today he showed it through his performance.”
