The impressive start of XRP ETF funds reflects strong confidence from institutional investors, but this is still not enough to improve traders' sentiment regarding XRP's price growth prospects.
The Trump administration is expected to continue supporting the legal framework for the cryptocurrency industry in 2026, while Ripple's payment ecosystem will also expand thanks to new partnership strategies.
So, can XRP hit the 5 USD mark in the new year?

In the past six months, the number of daily active addresses on the XRP Ledger has remained low at under 45,000, with only 38,500 addresses recorded on December 18th, down by 94% from the peak of over 600,000 addresses in March 2025.

XRP lost over 90% of its value just within 12 months after reaching an all-time high in 2018, and that was before getting embroiled in the lawsuit with the SEC.
Such a sharp downturn could very well recur, especially as XRP has fallen over 40% from a peak above 3.66 USD. In other words, reaching 5 USD by 2026 poses a significant challenge.

Current technical indicators even suggest that XRP could continue to decline further.
XRP has lost key thresholds: the psychological level of 2 USD and the 50-week EMA at 1.87 USD, which had previously signaled the end of past bull cycles.
The key support zone lies between the 100-week EMA at 1.85 USD and the low of 1.80 USD (on November 21st). If this zone is lost, it is likely to trigger a wave of long position liquidations, with the next low at 1.61 USD becoming the focal point.
Lower still, the 200-day EMA at 1.38 USD could be the final support level where buyers may regroup before making the next recovery attempt.

Many analysts believe that XRP price has peaked and warn of the possibility of a deeper correction as we move into 2026.
Veteran trader Peter Brandt forecasts a potential "double top" pattern that could see XRP drop below 1 USD in the coming weeks or months.
